DIY Felt Pancakes

Updated: May 5, 2022

If you've seen my instagram lately, you may have noticed that I've been making felt food for Piper's play kitchen. My latest project is these pancakes and I must admit that they're my new favorite and I'm pretty proud of them!

Here's how to make them yourself!

Materials:

-Tan felt

-Brown felt

-White felt

-Oven-bake clay

-Paint

-Beads

-Sewing needle

-Thread that matches felt (I use embroidery thread)

Step 1:

Print this template on cardstock. Cut out and pin to felt.

Step 2:

Cut out circles from felt. Cut two tan circles and one brown circle for each pancake.

Step 3:

Use matching embroidery thread to sew the brown circle onto one of the tan circles using an appliqué whip stitch.

Step 4:

Sew both tan circles together, sewing around the border about 3/4 of the way using a blanket stitch. Stuff with a very THIN layer of batting. Remember, pancakes are flat. Sew the remainder closed. Repeat process for as many pancakes as you’d like.

Step 5:

For the whipped cream, cut out nine small circles in white felt. Use one as a base. Fold another circle into fourths and sew onto the base.

Step 6:

Repeat, rotating around the base. I used four circles for the first layer. Repeat with four more circles for a second layer, offsetting them from the first layer. Fluff up the circles to fill out the whipped cream.

Step 7:

Use oven-bake clay to make the lucky charms. Roll clay into small balls and flatten with a butter knife. Use an Xacto knife to cut out the shapes. Use a large needle to drill a hole horizontally through the middle so you can sew them onto the whipped cream later. Follow instructions for baking.

Step 8:

Paint baked clay to match Lucky Charms marshmallows. Sew onto whipped cream. Sew on beads for additional sprinkles.

Ta-da! A stack of delicious, felt pancakes!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Happy crafting!
